My 8 month old daughter holds her caput upwardly fine and has started rolling along the floor but she is however not able to sit on her ain. She can sit down against the couch for a few seconds and so flops down to one side and ends upward lying downwardly - should I be worried?...

My dd was exactly the same. At viii months she still needed supported by cushions etc when sitting. Think she was around 9ish months before she really got the hang of it. She was walking at a year so it's amazing how they catch upwards. I wouldnt worry at the moment.

I wouldn't worry either at this stage. My dd (now 10 months) simply started sitting on her own at almost nine months. Even now she will preferentially lie down sometimes (catchy when y'all are trying to clothes her!). And she doesn't roll over at all, unless by blow, at which point she wails for assistance. Forget crawling. It hasn't fifty-fifty occurred to her. And as for standing, hold her above the floor and she either actively lifts her legs up, or just collapses at the knees. On the brilliant side, lack of mobility means I can put her down and know she will be there when I come back. It's proving very useful, as we are decorating.......

echo the others don't worry! my ds is 8 months in a weeks time and cannot sit up at all. Funnily enough he can clamber and has been crawling for the last 3 weeks. My dd on the other hand was sitting up at half dozen months but didn't clamber till she was ten months. Babies are funny things.

At that place's been a thread in the terminal few days near the ages at which children sit ... until I read that I'd thought that DD had been a late sitter (fashion back in the mists of time, well, three years agone) but no longer practise! She sat the day after she turned viii months, and there were plenty later than that. She was a lot similar Arriety's girl past the sounds of it ... rise four now, perfectly normal if a bit lazy (tin can't imagine WHERE she gets that from).

I wouldn't worry virtually it either.Ds2 is virtually 9 months and tin can't sit unaided yet.Ds1 was also belatedly in sitting, crawling, walking and talking only soon made up for it.He is at present on the go from the moment he wakes up til bed fourth dimension and talks non stop. They all accomplish their 'milestones' when they're good and ready

My dd is 9 months and has just just learned to sit unaided. She started crawling at vii months so I wasn't also worried. Some of the other same age babies in my mail service natal group tin't sit unaided and can't crawl yet. Everyone develops at different times.

My DD simply started sitting at 10 months and I was worried ill. Even asked for a private referral to see a paediatrician. Well, sods law being as it is, she sat unaided for the very first time and for a full 3 minutes just before we left for the appointment!
I know its tough when all their peers seem to be leaping ahead in their evolution (particularly at this early on phase where the milestones seem to come thick and fast), merely honestly they all go at their own rate and they catch upwards with each other in the end.

Don't worry most it. And if whatever other parents become smug about information technology, a line I have found to be very effective is "Yours did hold her head up / sit / stand very quickly, didn't s/he? Of course, having such a small caput must help."
